For the first time in three years, Tiger Woods has fallen from the top 50 in the World Golf Rankings.

Last May, Woods was top-ranked golfer in the world, but he missed most of the summer and fall recovering from back surgery.

He entered the this weekend's Waste Management Phoenix Open ranked 47th in the world, but he missed the cut by 12 shots. Woods posted the worst single-round score of his career Friday, shooting an 82 at TPC Scottsdale.

While falling out of the top 50 in the world after entering the weekend at 47th may not seem important, the slide could keep Tiger away from one of the courses he's been the most successful at in his career.

In order to qualify for the World Golf Championship-Cadillac Championship, he must be back in the top 50 following his results at the Honda Classic in two weeks. Woods has won seven times in his 14 Cadillac Championship starts at TPC Doral.

The last time Woods was out of the top 50 was on Nov. 27, 2011.
