Tiger Lurks: Fully fit Woods feeling positive again

TigerWoods

The 38-year-old has been plagued by injury over the last couple of years, and has dropped to number 32 in the official rankings.

The last of his 14 major championship wins came at the US Open in 2008, while his most recent PGA Tour victory came 16 months ago.

But despite his disappointing results, Woods is feeling upbeat heading into the new year as he reaches full fitness.

"I'm mostly excited about being healthy again," he said in his blog for the PGA Tour.

"I've struggled for the past year-and-a-half with my back, and it showed in my results.

"Even though I won five times two years ago, it was hit or miss some weeks and got progressively worse.

"Now that it feels healthy, strong and stable, it's fun to be able to play with my kids again, to play soccer and run around with them - things that I used to take for granted.

"For anybody who has ever had a bad back with nerve damage, it's downright debilitating. To not feel that is finally just an incredible relief.

"I am still working on my playing schedule and should have it figured out shortly."
