Henrik Stenson's final warm-up plans for The Masters have been scuppered after illness forced his withdrawal from the Houston Open.

The world number two was set to compete in the PGA Tour event in Texas as part of his final preparations for the first major of the year at Augusta next month.

However, the Swede tweeted on Tuesday: "No Augusta practice, no Shell Houston Open due to getting the flu, hope to be up and running next week in Georgia."

The Houston Open would have been Stenson's first appearance since the Arnold Palmer Invitational, where he led after three rounds before being pipped by defending champion Matt Every on the final day.
