Zach Johnson helped end Jordan Spieth's run at a golf Grand Slam last month at the British Open. The two were competing again Tuesday night, in the States, off the course.
This time, Spieth got the cash.
Both threw out ceremonial first pitches at big league parks — Spieth in Arlington, Texas, Johnson in Chicago.
There was trash talking beforehand and a friendly wager:
@JordanSpieth and I agreed loser sends $5000 check to the winner's Foundation. Good fun. Remember JS, Zac"H" in @ZJFClassic .

The left-handed(!) Spieth, who just became the world's No. 1-ranked golfer, took it from there
Yeah, we forgot to tell you: The 22-year-old Spieth was a pitcher not too long ago.

The right-handed Johnson could not respond. He missed high and outside from the mound at Wrigley Field.

Let's call it a two-shot win for Spieth.
Johnson gladly got out his checkbook:
@SportsCenter @Buccigross thx 4 help 2nite. Happy to send @JordanSpieth foundation $5k. He's my boy #Throwingstrikesgivingback

As did a certain sponsor:
@Buccigross @SportsCenter special thx to my great partner @Transamerica for matching my $5000 donation to @JordanSpieth foundation.

Worse (OK, not really) for Johnson: He also has to pay for dinner the next time the two get together.
