Jordan Spieth shook off his Masters hangover to post a 9-under round of 62 on Day 2 of the RBC Heritage at Hilton Head, S.C.
After slipping into a green jacket on Sunday, Spieth looked to be feeling the effects of his Augusta exertions on Thursday when he had two bogeys and a double-bogey in a 3-over 74.
However, Spieth surged up the leaderboard with a scintillating round on Friday, leaving himself 6-under for the tournament.

"I found something in my ball position on the range this morning and it made a significant difference in my ball-striking and my putting," Spieth said.
Troy Merritt followed a first-round 69 with a sparkling 61 to lead the PGA Tour tournament. Merritt was 12 under, four strokes better than Matt Kuchar.
Spieth's round, which started on the 10th, got off to a promising start as he sunk a 6-foot birdie putt.
Back-to-back birdies on holes 14 and 15 were followed by further gains on the 17th, second, third and fifth.
Spieth then finished with consecutive birdies on eight and nine, making an excellent approach shot on the latter to finish strong after sitting 93rd on the leaderboard at the end of Day 1.
"Yesterday was just a weird-feeling round the whole day," he said. "I wasn't hitting it well — it was just weird. It was all kind of weird in my head, didn't feel normal. Today I got off to a good start and I kept my head down, wanted to shoot a really low round, and now I've got myself probably some rest tomorrow with a little later tee time, get a little extra sleep."
