Shooting star Sullivan's ace is out of this world

Tournament sponsor XCOR Space Expeditions were offering the reward to the competitor who could hole an ace on the 163-yard hole at Kennemer Golf and Country Club in Zandvoort.

And it was Englishman Sullivan who delivered the goods as he floated a perfect approach shot onto the green in Sunday's round, with the backspin taking the ball into the cup to land the 28-year-old a journey into orbit.

The shot was not enough to see Sullivan secure a maiden European Tour title, however, as he finished on 12-under par for the tournament, two strokes behind winner Paul Casey.

But Sullivan can at least relish the prospect of a once-in-a-lifetime experience following one of the more memorable moments of his career.

XCOR are to begin journeys into space from the end of 2015 and claim to already have 300 bookings.
