UPDATE: Four months after his injury, Davis Love III wins the Wyndham Championship at age 51. Tiger Woods finishes tied for 10th in his best result of the season, but implodes on one hole to ruin his chance of challenging for the win.

United States Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III will be miss at least two months after foot surgery, according to the Golf Channel.

Love had surgery on Wednesday in Georgia to correct two dislocated toes and digital contracture on his right foot. Surgeon David Murphy said that is a common issue for golfers or anyone who spends time on their feet.

“It was actually a series of traumatic events, 20 miles [walking] every week on Tour, that caused this,” Murphy told the Golf Channel.

Love, 50, won 20 PGA Tour events, but is not qualified for the Masters, which opens April 9 at August, Ga. He also isn't in the WGC-Cadillac Match Play or The Players competitions. He decided this was the best time to address the long-standing foot problem.

The U.S. and Europe will next meet for the Ryder Cup in 2016 at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Minnesota. Love replaced Tom Watson, whose team lost the 2014 Cup in Scotland. That change came in February.
