TPC Scottsdale's Stadium Course - the home of the Phoenix Open - will be 114 yards longer in 2015, with bunker changes and the addition of 250 trees set to provide a new challenge at the PGA Tour event.
Three members of the world's top 10 - Bubba Watson, Jordan Spieth and Matt Kuchar - will be in Phoenix this week, as will former number one Tiger Woods, who will make his first appearance since 2001.
But co-creator Tom Weiskopf remains confident the world's best golfers will manage low scores in Arizona.
"The greens really are still modest," Weiskopf said at the reopening in November, according to the PGA Tour's website.
"Even the new greens – two, three, four and 14 - have very modest contours, very reminiscent of the other 14 greens on the golf course. So, I don't think the putts are going to be misread that much.
"The bunkering, actually, is I think a little easier because they're not as deep as they used to be. It's very playable sand, too. It's a hard balance."
Watson shapes as the favourite for the Phoenix Open having lost the 2014 edition by a shot from Kevin Stadler and coming into this week's event as the world's number four player.
Kuchar heads to Arizona in top form having finished in a share of second at the Humana Challenge last week after leading following the second round, while Spieth will make his TPC Scottsdale debut.
Other entrants to keep an eye on include Patrick Reed, who won the Tournament of Champions earlier this month, 2013 champion Phil Mickelson, world number 11 Rickie Fowler and Brendan Steele, who has finished T6, T6 and T5 the last three years.
