Pelley appointed European Tour CEO

EuropeanTour - Cropped

The European Tour has announced Keith Pelley will serve as its new chief executive officer when George O'Grady steps down later this year.

O'Grady announced in November that he would be bringing his lengthy tenure to an end, having overseen the implementation of the lucrative Race to Dubai during his time in charge.

Pelley will become the European Tour's fourth chief executive, with the Rogers Media president boasting experience across a range of sporting organisations.

Rogers Media has responsibility for a number of media companies as well as MLB side Toronto Blue Jays.

"I am very honoured to be joining the European Tour as its new CEO at an exciting stage in its development," Pelley said in a statement.

"The Tour already has a highly regarded reputation and I look forward to building on this using my previous experience in both media and sports to ensure it remains at forefront of the game across the globe.

"Throughout my career in North America, it has been a privilege to work with the best sports organisations, athletes and media assets. I am excited to build on these experiences on the international stage."
