Noh worries for Zurich Classic champion

Reigning champion Noh Seung-yul is in confident mood as he prepares to defend his maiden PGA Tour title when the Zurich Classic of New Orleans tees off on Thursday.

The 23-year-old South Korean won by two strokes at the TPC Louisiana last year, but has struggled on the Tour so far in 2015, missing five cuts - including at last week's RBC Heritage - while he has yet to register a top-10 finish.

But Noh has blamed his stuttering start to the year on a lack of comprehension between himself and his new support staff.

Noh hired coach Anthony Kim and trainer Chris Noss earlier this year and, after a period of acclimatisation, he believes good results are just around the corner.

"I had to break in a new swing. It's getting better and, hopefully, it will be great," he told the New Orleans Advocate.

"I'm always working hard and my game is getting better. I feel like some good results will be coming up pretty soon."

Noh explained that a lack of consistency inspired him to hire Kim and Noss.

"We needed to fix my swing, just some little swing motions, because I was playing too inconsistent. I would play good some weeks, then play bad some weeks. One day, I would hit a lot of greens; and the next day I would miss half of them," he added.

"I needed to be more stable, more consistent, for the whole week."

Noh will be up against three of the world's in-form golfers this week, with Justin Rose, Dustin Johnson and Rickie Fowler set to make their post-Masters return to the PGA Tour.

The trio all claimed top-20 finishes at Augusta National, while they will also be joined by Jason Day, who was well in contention after the first round in Georgia, only to slip off the pace.

Rose finished in a share of second with Phil Mickelson behind Masters champion Jordan Spieth, with the Englishman posting by far his best result of the year at Augusta.

The world number nine missed three cuts and finished well adrift at the WGC-Cadillac Championship and Houston Open in the build-up to the Masters.
