Moore targets repeat success in Malaysia

The American clinched his third PGA Tour title at the event last year, winning through in a play-off against Gary Woodland in Kuala Lumpur.

Moore, the world number 47, disappointed in missing the cut on his previous outing at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas.

However, he is in high spirits ahead of his return to the only tournament sanctioned by the PGA Tour in south-east Asia, having enjoyed a welcome break ahead of the 2014-15 campaign.

"I feel great about my game. I've actually had a few weeks off and I've had some great rest after the end of the FedExCup going into these next few weeks - I feel really ready to go," Moore told the PGA Tour website.

"For me it's about winning. You know, I'm trying to play good, solid, consistent golf at all times but for me I play golf to be competitive I mean, that’s what I love about it.

"Every single week it's just trying to be in contention and have a chance, have a chance to win going into Sunday. That's what I play golf for."

Moore faces a strong challenge this week, with the field for the CIMB Classic - which is co-sanctioned with the Asian Tour - featuring seven major winners.

Joining the likes of Ryder Cup heroes Sergio Garcia and Lee Westwood are the fit-again Jason Dufner - who made his return to action at the Perth International following a neck problem - and Thailand's Kiradech Aphibarnrat.

Aphibarnrat finished third at the event last year and will bid to become the first Asian Tour pro to win the Classic along with home favourite Nicholas Fung - fresh from becoming the highest-ranked Malaysian in world golf.

Moore feels the Asian contingent will provide stiff competition and outlined his admiration for Aphibarnrat.

He added: "Obviously they're great golfers. I've been fortunate enough to play with Kiradech a few times and he's great.

"I mean, he's absolutely a PGA Tour-calibre golfer, which means there's a lot more guys like him playing down there and being competitive."
