Despite suffering ruptured ankle ligaments in a friendly soccer game nearly six weeks ago, McIlroy seems to have remained completely on top of his game during his forced lay-off. 

McIlroy hit one of the most incredible shots you're likely to see during the first round of the final major tournament of the year, the USPGA Championship at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisconsin, United States. 

 

4 and a half and 3 and a half weeks ago respectively... I've come a long way since.

Playing professionally for the first time since suffering the ankle injury, McIlroy pulled off this incredible chip - from the water! 

There wasn’t a more impressive shot on the day, with the wind playing havoc with the afternoon card. 

McIlroy was battling on the par-5 fifth hole on the opening day, after hitting his tee shot into a bunker and playing his second to the fairway, McIlroy’s third shot found its way into the water to the left of the green.
