Rory McIlroy will look to prolong his stunning form at The Barclays, starting Thursday, with Adam Scott set to defend his title.

World number one McIlroy has taken all before him of late, winning his past three events - including The Open Championship and the US PGA Championship.

Scott - ranked second - claimed the 2013 title at Liberty National Golf Club, however the $8million event returns to the Ridgewood Country Club - the location of the 2010 event won by Matt Kuchar.

Each of the world's top-10 ranked players are in the field, including the aforementioned trio, while top-five players Henrik Stenson, Sergio Garcia and Justin Rose have strong form lines.

Sweden's Stenson was tied for third at the US PGA Championship, his fourth top-five finish in his past six tournaments.

Spaniard Garcia has been a runner-up at three of his past five starts, including The Open Championship and the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.

And Rose, of England, has been a picture of consistency, finishing inside the top 25 the past 12 times he has made the cut - with two titles and five top-10 finishes to boot.

Furthermore, the sixth-ranked Jim Furyk has finished inside the top 20 in six straight events, including three top-five results.

Phil Mickelson was denied a sixth major at the US PGA by McIlroy but his second-place finish saw him close on a maiden 2014 win.

Bubba Watson - the world number eight - is a rare breed in the top 10, as he has battled for results since finishing third at the Memorial.

Likewise for Australia's Jason Day, who has only one top-five finish since his WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship - although injury has curtailed his game.

Outside the top 10, Rickie Fowler has also been lighting it up of late, with top-three finishes at the US Open, The Open and the US PGA.

All those numbers make for a tasty tournament in Paramus, New Jersey, however the majority of the field are all still in the wake of world number one McIlroy, who will start as deserved favourite.
