The Irishman, who sank the winning put in the 2002 event at The Belfry, led the team to a resounding 16 1/2 to 11 1/2 victory at Gleneagles over the weekend.
Opposite number Tom Watson came in for some criticism for his approach - with Phil Mickelson in particular questioning the veteran's methods - but McGinley has been widely praised for his pairings and the spirit he fostered among his men.
Despite his success, McGinley insists he will not be captain when the two teams meet again at Hazeltine National Golf Club in two years' time.
"No, 100 per cent not," he told Radio 5 Live. "We've got some great guys waiting in the wings.
"It's a great honour to be a Ryder Cup captain but for me it's one term only and I'll gladly step aside and wish the next captain, whoever that may be, the best of luck."
The last European captain to lead successive Ryder Cup teams was Bernard Gallacher, who skippered the side on three occasions back-to-back in the 1990s, losing twice and winning once.
Darren Clarke, a member of five Ryder Cup teams between 1997 and 2006, and vice-captain to Colin Montgomery in 2010, has expressed his interest in taking over the role.
