Captain Paul McGinley confirmed the former Manchester United manager will talk to his team on Tuesday to get them in the right frame of mind for Friday's opening round.
Guardiola was enlisted by Jose Maria Olazabal before their win in Medinah two years ago, while Edwards was the choice of Colin Montgomerie ahead of the successful 2010 event.
During his United career Ferguson won 38 trophies including 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups and two UEFA Champions League finals.
McGinley wants to tap into the Scot's winning mentality and give his side a boost ahead of the foursomes.
"He [Ferguson] is a guy who I played with at pro-am about 15 years and when I became captain I asked if he would do it," McGinley said at Tuesday's news conference.
"He said he would, but asked that we keep it quiet. But then him walking around with [Europe's director of communications] Gordon Simpson is not keeping it quiet!
"The players don't know yet, though, and we want to keep it a surprise.
"Although I am not a Manchester United fan I always loved the way his teams played. The more I met him the more it seemed a natural fit.
"We have met a number of times over the last few months for lunch. He has asked me a lot of questions, he is a big fan of golf, but not everyone who will be in the room is a Manchester United fan so it should be interesting.
"The chance to get time with one of the greats in soccer doesn't come around very often.
Europe's players will get their first look at the Gleneagles course on Tuesday with McGinley insistent the pairings were not a sign of things to come.
He added: "I wouldn't base too much around today's practice because the three-balls today are partly based around the fact that some of the guys are doing media."
