Clark, of South Africa, was runner-up to Phil Mickelson in 2006 at Augusta. Ranked 56th in the world, Clark has not played since January's Sony Open in Hawaii.

The PGA Tour confirmed that Clark's agent, Thomas Park, said his client's elbow was better but that Clark, 39, didn't have sufficient time to prepare for 2015's first golf major.

Play in this year's tournament begins April 9 at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia.

This week, the PGA Tour makes its final stop before the Masters. The Shell Houston Open begins April 2. Get first-round tee times here.
