Koepka wins Phoenix Open for first PGA title

BrooksKoepka - Cropped

Brooks Koepka rallied to his maiden PGA Tour win, grabbing a one-shot victory at the Phoenix Open on Sunday.

The 24-year-old American carded a final-round five-under 66 to win the title at TPC Scottsdale in Arizona.

Koepka finished at 15 under, a shot clear of Bubba Watson, Ryan Palmer and Hideki Matsuyama.

A 51-foot eagle putt on the 15th hole set up Koepka's strong finish and first victory.

Koepka stayed in control on the three holes after that to close out the win.

Watson (65) and Palmer (66) finished well, while Matsuyama (67) missed an 18-foot birdie putt on the final hole that would have seen him catch Koepka.

Martin Laird (72) held the overnight lead but finished poorly in his final round, into which he carried a three-shot lead.

The Scot bogeyed the 17th and produced a double bogey at the last to slip to a tie for fifth at 12 under.

Finishing alongside him was Spanish amateur Jon Rahm (68).

Swede Freddie Jacobson (64), American Jordan Spieth (65) and Canadian Graham DeLaet (67) were tied for seventh.

Brandt Snedeker (66), Brian Stuard (67), Daniel Berger (69), Robert Streb (69) and Zach Johnson (71) finished at 10 under.
