Koepka triumphant in Turkey as McIlroy wins Race to Dubai

The American moved to 17 under - and cranked up the pressure on the chasing Poulter - with a closing 65 on Sunday that included five birdies and an eagle at the 13th hole.

Poulter, undermined by a three-over 75 on Saturday, pushed Koepka all the way, picking up shots at the first, fourth, sixth, ninth and 13th to set up a tense finish that went right down to the wire.

Requiring a birdie on the par-five 18th to force a play-off, Poulter found a bunker with his approach and was unable to convert his putt for a four after pitching to six feet.

That left Koepka to celebrate his first European Tour success, while Rory McIlroy now cannot be caught in the Race to Dubai after Jamie Donaldson, Sergio Garcia and Marcel Siem all failed to get the win they needed in Turkey to stay within range of the world number one.

McIlroy was not present at the Turkish Open, but it mattered little as he topped the European Tour's money list for the second time in three years.

Henrik Stenson's blistering 64, featuring nine birdies, was enough for the Swede - last year's Race to Dubai winner - to secure third place, three strokes behind Koepka.

Miguel Angel Jimenez was one of four players tied for fourth, including overnight leader Wade Ormsby.

Koepka started his bogey-free final round strongly with four birdies on the front nine, including three in a row from the fourth.

A 45-foot putt saw the 24-year-old pick up a further shot at the 10th before his eagle at the 13th. Koepka struck a tree on the 15th, but still saved par.

As Poulter continued to challenge behind him, Koepka kept his nerve when it mattered, a superb approach shot to the final green allowing him to sink from 10 feet for par and then watch on as the Briton's challenge faltered.

Defending champion Victor Dubuisson finished in a share of 15th at nine under.
