Day not worried about losing No.1 ranking

Golf's top ranking is slipping through the hands of Jason Day but the world number one is unfazed.

Day was only crowned number one after taking out the BMW Championship on Sunday but the FedEx Cup leader is already losing his grip on the mantle.

The Australian is tied for 10th at the season-ending Tour Championship following his third-round 70 in Atlanta to be eight shots adrift of leader and rival Jordan Spieth heading into Sunday's round.

Day, who is set to lose out on a lucrative FedEx Cup payday, will relinquish the top ranking if he finishes outside the top five and Spieth triumphs at the East Lake Golf Club, though he will remain at the summit if Henrik Stenson wins.

However, the prospect of losing the number one status is not something that concerns Day.

"I'm not worrying about that. Not worrying about that right now," Day told reporters.

"I just want to try and - because I played good to get there. I know that it's going to be a lot of change between the three of us, and I just got to go out and try and play the best I can tomorrow.

"It would be great to hold on to it, but right now I'm just going to focus on playing good golf."

Day, who had three birdies and two bogeys in the penultimate round, added: "Sunday rounds are different, too, than the other three other rounds, because there's a lot more pressure.

"After tomorrow, there's no more days. So there's a lot more pressure on tomorrow's round.

"If I can get off to a good start and hit it a lot better off the tee, a lot straighter, that would be nice. Give myself a lot more opportunities. At least if I get to four or five on the front nine that would be nice."
