Hend beats Que in Hong Kong play-off

Hend saved par on the first extra hole at the 18th and that proved to be enough as Que missed the green and then misjudged his chip shot to hand the Australian victory.

"I felt quite calm, the only thing is that hole at the end you never want to have a go at the pin because you can make a bogey quiet easily so I wasn't really sure how to play it," Hend said.

"Unfortunately, Angelo made a bogey, I would have rather one of us made a birdie because he's a great guy and it would be nice to earn the win on a positive note.

"But I'll take the win and I'm ecstatic."

Overnight leader Marcus Fraser's challenge quickly fell away on Sunday, with the tone for his two-over-par round set by a double bogey at the first, Hend's compatriot eventually finishing the tournament in tied fifth at nine under.

England's Mark Foster looked well set following birdies at the first and second, but a poor approach shot led to a double bogey at the ninth and gave Hend the initiative heading on to the back nine.

And the 41-year-old took full advantage with birdies on holes 10, 12 and 14, the latter coming courtesy of an excellent 15-foot putt.

Hend then twice salvaged par from difficult positions at the 16th and on the last, but he could not shake off Filipino Que, whose stunning approach shot at the 18th saw him move level at 13 under with a birdie to force the play-off.

Yet the 35-year-old could not carry that momentum into the extra hole as Hend prevailed.

Ireland's Kevin Phelan came in third at 11 under, while Foster finished a shot further back in fourth.
