Ted Potter Jr has held of Australian Mathew Goggin to win his first Nationwide Tour event at the South Georgia Classic.

Potter Jr, who had to come through qualifying earlier in the week to take his place in the event, fired a four-under 68 in the final round to finish the tournament at 16-under to win by three strokes.

Goggin put up a good fight to the American but his three-under 69 on the final day wasn't enough to get close to the leader at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.

"I've won on other tours and they were really nice, but this one means a lot more right now," Potter said.

"This win ranks as my highest ever."

Brent Long (70) and Charles Warren (71) were the next best in a tie for third place at 10-under-par.

Potter Jr had started the final round in a tie for the lead with Jon Mills at 12-under par but his consistent play soon had him out in front on his own.

The pair birdied the par-five second hole but when Mills bogeyed three and four he never recovered, handing the initiative to Potter Jr.

He birdied seven and eight, then after the turn, birdied the par-five 11th.

Potter dropped a shot at the par-four 12th, but no one really threatened his lead on the back nine.

Mark Anderson (67), Rob Oppenheim (71) and Major Manning (69) tied for fifth at nine-under while Martin Flores (71) and Jonas Blixt (74) shared eighth at minus-eight.

Mills struggled throughout the final round. He shot a seven-over 79 and fell into a tie for 18th place at five-under.
