Furyk, who has a major to his name after winning the 2003 US Open, has a wealth of experience at the famed Georgia course, with fourth-placed finishes in 1998 and 2003.The 43-year-old said fellow Americans Johnson - who won at Augusta in 2007 - and Spieth would be suited to the conditions at the year's first major.

"I think Zach Johnson won in his third attempt and I remember him doing an interview saying he was totally lost his first year and then he started to feel stronger in his second and ended up winning his third," Furyk said.

"Yet I wouldn't think other than he likes to hit right to left, wouldn't think of this as in his wheelhouse but he has a great short game and best putters in the game, which is really a key on this golf course.

"He is comfortable going right to left and that helps.

"He (Johnson) is not like that typical bomber, (but) you catch a guy like Jordan Spieth, who has a solid game, he is real young and competitive, and I see this golf course suiting his style of game, not that he can't play anywhere but he has got plenty of power and turns the ball over with the short game and the competitive fire.

"I could see him (Spieth) getting very comfortable quickly."

The 2014 Masters will see a rare feat accomplished, with a father and son teeing off at Augusta for the first time as Craig and Kevin Stadler prepare for the major.

Furyk said the achievement was something special from the pair, with 60-year-old Craig probably teeing up there for the final time, while his 34-year-old son Kevin debuts.

"I think I understand the close relationship between father and son, my dad is my teacher and he has been here for every Masters I have played in and we have had an opportunity to play the golf course together and I think I understand the special bond from the son side that way," Furyk said.

"Playing in the Masters together, not many people are ever going to get that opportunity.

"I know Jay and Billy Haas have had similar things and it is pretty cool. I know both of them, I probably know Craig a little bit better, he was someone I enjoyed being around when I was younger in my career."
