Jason Dufner moved into the top 10 in golf's world rankings for the first time after his runner-up finish at the Crowne Plaza Invitational.

The in-form American, fresh from a win at the HP Byron Nelson Championship, ended up a shot behind winner Zach Johnson at the Colonial Country Club.

Dufner, who won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans at the end of April, started the year outside the top 30 but is now eighth.

Englishman Luke Donald reclaimed his number one ranking from Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy after winning the BMW PGA Championship.

Justin Rose, also from England, finished tied for second and moved into an equal career-high ranking of sixth, a feat he last achieved in 2008.

Hunter Mahan slipped to seventh, Tiger Woods is down to ninth and Steve Stricker fell to 10th.

England's Lee Westwood remains third, behind McIlroy and ahead of American pair Bubba Watson and Matt Kuchar.
