Jason Day’s caddie Colin Swatton has praised his partner’s resilience, following Day’s episode of vertigo during round two of the U.S. Open.

Day, who created a stir after collapsing with vertigo during round two, surged up the leaderboard in round three with an encouraging back nine to claim a share of the lead following his round of 68.

“It was the greatest round I’ve ever seen,” Swatton said.

"He dug as deep as he could possibly dig today.

"It was really impressive. Most people when they feel like that go to bed with the drapes drawn, but this is the US Open. He has done well in this tournament before, he wants to do so again."

Day made important putts on 17 and 18 to finish on -4 through 54 holes, tied with Americans Dustin Johnson and Jordan Spieth as he entered the clubhouse.

"I felt groggy on the front nine because of the drugs in my system from yesterday,” Day told Fox Sports in the U.S.

“I then felt a bit better, but on the 13th tee the vertigo came again and I felt nauseous.

“The goal was just to keep going and be in the event tomorrow,” Day said.
