Day not fearing Masters failure

After two near misses in the past five years, Jason Day is heading into the 2015 Masters without fear of failure.

In 2011, Day tied for second behind Charl Schwartzel and the Australian finished third two years later, two shots behind winner Adam Scott, despite having led at the 16th hole of the final round.

With this year's tournament at the iconic Augusta course set to begin next Thursday, Day says those painful experiences will help him go into the event with a positive outlook.

"Everyone has failures in their lives and that kind of shapes what they're going to do tomorrow," the world number five told The Age.

"Failures are there as security blankets, really, so you can ask yourself, 'okay, do I really want to push through it or do I just want to run away and hide?'

"I'm okay now to go out there and give it my all and fail, and I've just kind of realised that this year.

"I know that I'm always going to come out better on the other side. I feel very strong about what I'm doing.

"Every tournament I go to over here [in the US], fans are always coming up to me saying, 'you're going to win the Masters this year'.

"And those things, it just depends on how you look at it.

"You can look at it one way and say, these people are backing me so much that the pressure builds up.

"I'm not scared to go into that event and lose it because I already lost that tournament back in 2013."
