Padraig Harrington experienced a bit of deja vu on the second playoff hole Monday morning, but he came out on the right side.

After losing the lead with two holes to play when he hit his tee shot in the water at 17, the Irishman watched his competitor in the playoff, PGA Tour rookie Daniel Berger, do the same at the most critical time.

Berger had a long birdie putt to win it on the first playoff hole but just missed, sending the pair back to No. 17 at PGA National. No nerves were evident from the veteran Harrington, who stuck his tee shot within 3 feet of the hole before Berger stepped up and hit into the water.

Berger finished his final round Monday with a 64, shooting to the top of the leaderboard as other contenders fell away. Harrington was in the lead before putting his tee shot in the water at the par-3 17th and emerging with a double bogey. But he drained a 16-foot birdie putt at 18 to rally and force the playoff.

The end of the final round was delayed until Monday after a stormy weekend in South Florida. Ian Poulter and Paul Casey began Monday's restart tied atop the leaderboard, but they finished tied for third at 5-under.

Harrington, 43, had five PGA Tour wins coming in, but none since he won the British Open and the PGA Championship in 2008. He previously won the Honda Classic in 2005.

Berger, who turns 22 next month, is the son of former professional tennis player Jay Berger. He turned pro after his sophomore year on the Florida State golf team and played a full schedule on the Web.com Tour in 2014 before earning his PGA Tour card for this season.
