Cullen keeps cool to claim Masters

Nick Cullen
The 30-year-old finished at nine-under for the tournament, one shot clear of trailing trio Adam Scott, Josh Younger and James Nitties.

Overnight leader Paul Spargo needed an eagle on the final hole to force a play-off but could only manage par as he ended the day one-over to finish in a tie for fifth.

World number two Scott, who was looking for his third Masters title in a row, will be left to ponder what might have been after a tough day with the flat stick left him with a four-under par round of 68.

Cullen went into the final round in third position but an eagle on the par-five fourth gave him a good bit of momentum and he carried this over to the back nine, with back-to-back birdies at 11 and 12 proving crucial.

Knowing a par would be good enough for the win on the final hole, Cullen put himself in a tough position after finding the sand with his second shot but a superb chip out of the bunker all but sealed the win.
