Frenchwoman Anne-Lise Caudal has won the Ladies German Open by defeating Laura Davies of England in a playoff as Australian Bree Arthur missed a golden opportunity to win on Sunday.

Davies and Caudal both moved up from equal fourth at the start of Sunday's final round to top the leaderboard.

That forced a playoff at the Golfpark Gut Hausern near Munich in southern Germany.

The duo started their playoff for the title on the par-five 18th hole and both players reached the green in three shots.

Davies two-putted for par, leaving Caudal with a chance to win it and the 27-year-old Frenchwoman made no mistake for the second title of her career.

Overnight leaders, Rebecca Hudson of England, Australia's Bree Arthur and Sweden's Pernilla Lindberg, all dropped off the pace in the final round.

Lindberg fared the worst, posting a two-over 74 to finish equal seventh overall on eight under.

Hudson held on for third, two shots behind Caudal and Davies, while Arthur was one of three players tied for fourth on nine under.
