Bjorn seeks form boost in Denmark

Having missed the cut in the final major of the season - the US PGA Championship - at Valhalla last weekend, Bjorn will be eager for a better showing at the Himmerland Golf and Spa Resort in Aalborg.

The evergreen 43-year-old has slipped out of the top four in the European points list, but remains firmly on course to claim one of the nine automatic slots in Paul McGinley's team via his position on the world points list.

Yet Ryder Cup points are far from the only motivation for Bjorn this week, who is among the home hopes looking to impress as Denmark hosts a European Tour event for the first time since 2003.

Bjorn has enjoyed an extremely consistent campaign, winning the Nedbank Golf Challenge last December and recording a further five top-10 finishes.

A host of other Danes are in this week's field, including Thorbjorn Olesen, who is fresh off a tie for 30th at Valhalla. The 24-year-old has split his schedule between the European Tour and PGA Tour and is bidding to land a second career title after lifting the Sicilian Open in 2012.

Morten Orum Madsen will hope home comforts can help him arrest an alarming slump in form, which has seen him miss the cut in 10 of his last 16 outings.

That followed a good start to the season, highlighted by Madsen lifting his solitary European Tour title to date at last November's South African Open.

Outside of the home contingent, Belgium's Nicolas Colsaerts is another player bidding to bounce back after recent poor showings.

The 31-year-old - part of Europe's Ryder Cup team in Medinah in 2012 - has slipped to 176 in the official world rankings and missed eight cuts in 10 events after tying for second at the Malaysian Open in April.

Scotland's Marc Warren, England's Chris Wood and Sweden's Kristoffer Broberg are - together with Bjorn - among the higher-ranked players in this week's field.
