Thomas Bjorn finally comfortable at Augusta

Bjorn's second-round four-under 68 saw the Dane into a tie for third alongside Sweden's Jonas Blixt at the 36-hole mark.

The 43-year-old is amid his 11th appearance at the Masters, but he said his visit to Georgia in 2013 - which culminated in a tied for 46th finish - helped propel his charge to the green jacket 12 months later.

"I came out here last year and I played very poor," Bjorn said.

"And I always felt like when I came in here I had to play so well to do any good.

"And I came in here last year and played poor and I think I finished just inside the top 30 or whatever.

"And I just felt like I've learned so much from that week last year that I could even without playing great I could find the way around the golf course, put myself in positions.

"And it was probably the first time I really understood the golf course completely."

Bjorn said his round was 'right up there' among his best at Augusta, but said his relaxed mindset pointed to confidence in his own game.

"It's a tricky golf course. And you can try and do the right thing, but if you're not quite on, it becomes extremely difficult out here," he said.

"So today I tried to do the right things and I executed it well. It's right up there.

"I felt comfortable on the golf course today and that's always a sign that you've got a good idea of where your golf swing is and how you're hitting the ball... because if you're not in control of what you're doing you don't feel comfortable on this golf course."

Blixt, on his Masters debut, said he appreciated the pace of the Augusta greens, as he looked to continue an impressive early record at majors.

The 29-year-old is in his third major event, having finished tied for 26th at the British Open before an outright fourth result at the PGA Championship in 2013.

"Well, it's been a long major history with me, so I have two underneath my belt," Blixt said in jest.

"And I just love fast greens. It's so much fun to play. And I see the lines better. There's a lot more touch around the greens. I can visualize the shots a little bit better. I really, truly enjoy it.

"Experience always helps, but I don't have a lot of it. I try to do my best and be aggressive."
