Asia-Pacific won eight of the 12 singles match that took place on Sunday to see them through to a third victory in four years at the matchplay competition.

Defending champions China had led 4-2 after the Friday fourballs, but saw their lead evaporate in the foursomes to go into the final day trailing 6 1/2 to 5 1/2.

Needing to turn the tide, China were boosted by winning the first two matches out on the course, with Liang Wenchong and Hu Mu prevailing.

But 19-year-old Li Haotong was their only other winner, and that point came too late as Jun Seok Lee was beaten in the 11th match.

The remainder of Sunday's scoreboard was a swathe of blue, though Wu Ashun halved his match with Mark Brown of New Zealand.

Asia-Pacific ultimately won the singles 8 1/2 to 3 1/2, as the likes of Ryan Fox, Scott Laycock, Antonio Lascuna and Khor Kheng Hwai picked up points.

Long-serving Asia-Pacific captain Peter Thomson, who was in charge for the wins in 2011 and 2012, as well as last year's defeat, spoke of his delight at how is team fought back to claim the title.

"We played some good golf in some pretty funny conditions [on Sunday] and it was a good effort," he told the OneAsia Tour website.

"The players reacted after my plea for them to get serious and play hard after the first round.

"The second and third days were a surprise to us - to outscore the China team - and it was beyond our wildest dreams we would win by such a margin."
