Heading into this week's Australian Open, Adam Scott has shared some opposing viewpoints to world No. 1 Jordan Spieth regarding the 2016 Summer Olympics. Now, the talented Aussie is hoping for a Sunday showdown with Spieth on the golf course.

"I'd love nothing more than to be in the final group with him (Spieth) on Sunday," Scott said, via Golf.com.

"He's doing a huge favour for Australian golf (by returning to defend his title). I'm very fired up."

Scott has been critical of golf becoming an Olympic event ever since it was announced. He claims most players won't care because they play for their country every week on Tour.

He's also criticised the 72-hole format because he feels the Olympics shouldn't be just like every other event.

Spieth, on the other hand, said earlier this week that he considers the Olympics as next year's fifth major.

But that seems like a bit of stretch considering only 60 players will compete in the Games, plus the Players Championship already dons the unofficial fifth-major title.

Scott gets a familiar face back on the bag this week in Steve Williams, who helped Scott win the 2013 Masters and finish second at the 2012 Open Championship.

"I've told him this is our major this week," Scott said.

The Australian Open is the fifth-oldest national championship in the world, behind the British Open, U.S. Open, Canadian Open and South African Open and usually gets a pretty impressive field.

This year's edition is no different.
