Pratt claims Myanmar Open

Australian Kieran Pratt birdied the second play-off hole to win his first Asian Tour title at the Myanmar Open in Singapore on Sunday.

Pratt, compatriot Adam Blyth and Thailand's Kiradech Aphibarnrat were all tied on 15-under after 72 holes and were forced into a three-way playoff at the at the Royal Mingalardon Golf and Country Club.

After both Pratt and Blyth birdied the first playoff hole, while Aphibarnrat could only par, the Aussie duo played the 18th again with Pratt making another birdie after Blyth’s tee shot found water.

Pratt started the final round five shots off the pace but made a superb charge which included an eagle on the 18th hole to fire a round of 68.

"Fantastic. It feels great to win the first event of the year," Pratt said.

"Obviously you want to get off to a fast start but to win is obviously better."

Blyth had an even better final round, firing a 65 to surge into contention late in the event.

"I was never expecting to have a chance to win. I'm disappointed that I had the opportunity to win and didn't," he said.

"But I'm still happy with the outcome and how I played. It is a great way to start the season," said Blyth, who is still searching for his first Asian Tour victory.

Overnight leader Australian Scott Hend started well and had a two-shot lead after eight holes but a quadruple bogey on nine put paid to his chances, eventually finishing in a tie for fourth.
