Wolfsburg on a roll

A Grafite double led Wolfsburg to their third straight Bundesliga victory on Sunday with a clinical 2-1 win over Freiburg.

It's been a startling turnaround for Steve McLaren's side, unbeaten in their last three matches after losing the first three games of the season.

Brazilian Grafite bagged the opener in the 25th minute, but he was given a big hand by Freiburg goalkeeper Simon Pouplin, who fumbled the striker's header into the goal.

Papiss Demba Cisse scored his sixth goal of the campaign to bring Freiburg level 10 minutes later, lashing the ball home from the edge of the six-yard box after Simon Kjaer and Andrea Barzagli had both cleared earlier attempts off the goal-line.

The visitors nearly went ahead when Yacine Abdessadki sent a long-range attempt just wide of the far left post five minutes before the break.

Wolfsburg were on top in the second half and both Cisse and Grafite had chances to reclaim the lead early in the half.

Eventually it was the Brazilian who hit the target in the 64th minute, heading home Diego's corner to seal the win.

In Sunday's other Bundesliga match, Hannover had a hard-fought 1-0 win on the road against Kaiserslautern to move into third place on the table.

Mohammed Abdellaoue scored his fourth goal of the season for Hannover, heading home on 33 minutes to hand Kaiserslautern their third loss in four games.

Hannover's fourth win of the season moves them into third place, still five points behind undefeated Mainz who top the table.
