Wilkinson, one of only two foreigners named in the XI, was a key member of the Jeonbuk Motors side that took out the K-League title last month.

The 30-year-old centre back played 25 matches for Jeonbuk as they cruised to the Korean title with three games to spare.

The ex-Central Coast Mariners skipper’s club side dominated the end-of-season awards at the Grand Hilton in Seoul, with Wilkinson one of five Jeonbuk players in the best XI.

A number of the award winners – including defender Cha Du-Ri and striker Lee Dong-gook – are likely to be in the Korea Republic squad which is in the same group as the Socceroos at January’s Asian Cup.

The award caps a stunning 2014 for Wilkinson, who started all three games for the Socceroos at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

He is a near-certainty to be included in Ange Postecoglou’s squad for the Asian Cup, which is named later this month.

In other news on Aussies in the K-League, Robbie Cornthwaite has announced on his Twitter feed he's left his club Jeonnam Dragons.
