There was little on the field for the home fans to get excited about in the first half at White Hart Lane on Thursday.

Yet a series of intrusions provided drama of an unusual nature, leading officials to call a temporary halt to the fixture in the 41st minute with the score locked at 0-0.

Unconfirmed reports suggested that all three invaders were wearing similar shirts promoting the same company.

Play subsequently resumed after a short break - Tottenham eventually winning 1-0 thanks to Benjamin Stambouli's 49th-minute goal.

Tottenham released a statement after the match that confirmed all three invaders had been arrested.

"Three pitch invaders at tonight's match have been arrested and are assisting police with their enquiries," the statement read.

"We shall provide an update as soon as we have established the full facts. We apologise to fans for the disruptions caused by this totally unacceptable behaviour."

Tottenham qualified for the Europa League's knockout stages with their 1-0 success.
