The veteran Socceroos striker only landed in China late last week and wasn’t risked in the clash, which also featured another Aussie in ex-Newcastle Jet Josh Mitchell.

Cahill has started training with his new side and will ramp up his fitness in coming days ahead of Shenhua’s CSL opener against Shanghai Shenxin on March 8.

The 35-year-old appears to be settling in quickly in his new surrounds and received a huge reception at the airport on arriving in China with hundreds of fans clad in Blue there to welcome him.

Shenhua is Cahill’s fourth club in his career, having started his career at Millwall in 1998 before signing with Everton in 2004, earning iconic status at both clubs.

Australia’s greatest-ever goal-scorer then joined New York Red Bulls in 2012, scoring 14 goals in his two-and-half seasons in the MLS and claimed the club's MVP award in 2013.
