David Warner, Candice Falzon all smiles, no clothing?
Have David Warner and Candice Falzon taken their relationship to the next level and posed nude together? It certainly looked that way after the ironwoman tweeted a photo of the pair all loved up on the beach a day after Warner's stunning 197 against Victoria in the Ryobi Cup elimination final. It came with the following message from Falzon: "All smiles! No better feeling in the world than complete happiness." We examined the photo from all angles, concentrating mainly on Falzon, and couldn't see detect any semblance of clothing. We'll let you be the judge.

Sir Alex Ferguson, Mark Bosnich set for Melbourne Cup reunion?
The biggest action on Melbourne Cup day won't be on track if Sir Alex Ferguson attends the race that stops a nation. No, the fun will begin somewhere deep in a sponsor's marquee when Mark Bosnich comes face-to-face with his former manager, who in his autobiography accused the ex-Manchester United goalkeeper of being unprofessional and suffering from dietary problems. Bozza has stayed diplomatic thus far but the cracks are starting to appear. Quizzed about it for the 5000th time on Fox Sports on Sunday night, Bosnich dropped his guard to say: "I will see him if he wants to come down and see me. Apparently he might come for the Melbourne Cup but, knowing Sir Alex, bravery is not one of his greatest traits so he may not want to meet. Stay tuned."

Media skills played big part in deciding Socceroos coach
Make no mistake about it, media skills played a big part in deciding the next Socceroos coach. Ange Postecoglou is a consummate media performer and says the right things at the right time. He quickly built up a friendship with David Gallop, getting nice and cosy with the FFA boss during the All-Stars match, and is a favourite among many in the media. Arnie is more your 'say it as I see it' type and is wary of those he doesn't know or trust. Team comes first and foremost for the Mariners boss and everything else can wait. FFA know they need as much good PR as possible and Postecoglou ticks that penalty box. But did they get the best coach? Time will tell.

Sam Burgess should have been sent off
There is no doubting Sam Burgess' ability and impact on a game but he is a walking time bomb every time he crosses the white line. The Englishman's shocking swinging arm on Sam Thaiday in Sunday's Rugby League World Cup opener should have resulted in instant dismissal. At the very least it should earn him two or three weeks on the sideline. The South Sydney star was involved in a number of unsavoury incidents during the NRL season and copped three separate suspensions. He is now in the Steve Matai category where any indiscretion will be jumped on and punished at great cost to his team.

Ryobi Cup proves a success
There were plenty of critics of the one-town tournament format at the start of the Ryobi Cup but all indicators are it was a success. The cricket was good, TV ratings were solid and we played some blokes back into form. Cricket Australia will be sticking with the formula from here on in.

A Melbourne Cup without Bart Cummings?
A Melbourne Cup without Bart Cummings? Simply un-Australian. Let's hope Racing Victoria's handicapper looks kindly on Cummings' runner Precedence and grants him the 1.5kg weight penalty needed to get those famous eyebrows a start on the first Tuesday in November. Rules are rules but a Cup without Bart is as thinkable as the outer without blokes dressed as gorillas/sheiks/Richie Benaud/council workers.
