Inter Milan have given new coach Andrea Stramaccioni a win in his first game in charge, beating Genoa 5-4 in an incredible Serie A encounter.

Diego Milito scored a hat-trick for hosts Inter in a game that included four penalties and two red cards.

Inter jumped out to a three goal lead in the first half with two goals to Milito and another to Walter Samuel after a corner.

But the visitors hit back in first-half stoppage time through Emiliano Moretti to give themselves some hope at the break.

Javier Zanetti then conceded a penalty for hand-ball in the area and Genoa forward Rodrigo Palacio scored from the spot to make it 3-2.

Inter went into this game with only one Serie A victory in 10 matches but looked to have finished Genoa off when Mauro Zarate curled in a brilliant shot after 74 minutes.

The action was not over, however, with two red cards and three penalties yet to come.

Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar and Genoa midfielder Giuseppe Sculli were both sent off for conceding penalties, as Alberto Gilardino converted a pair for Genoa while Milito completed his hat-trick with a spot-kick of his own.

But despite the late Genoa flurry, Inter still came out on top, ensuring a very nervous first win as a senior coach for Stramaccioni.

Elsewhere, Juventus closed the gap on league leaders AC Milan to two points with a 3-0 victory at home to Napoli.

Antonio Conte's men extended their unbeaten league run to a club-record 31 matches thanks to goals from Leonardo Bonucci, Arturo Vidal and Fabio Quagliarella.
