Spain aim for historic three-peat

Spain goalkeeper Pepe Reina says his side are determined to become the first team to win three major international titles in a row.

The defending European and world champions need only a draw from their final Group C match against Croatia on Monday to progress to the Euro 2012 quarter-finals.

"Our common target is to make history," Reina said.

"We know we have a great responsibility and that being world champions makes everything tougher. But we are ready for it."

"Our playing and working philosophies are still the same as before and the squad hasn't changed much.

"We've been playing together for a long time and we have a great team spirit."Both Spain and Croatia would advance to the last eight of the tournament with a 2-2 draw at Gdansk's PGE Arena, regardless of Italy's result against the Republic of Ireland.

But striker Fernando Torres, who is likely to retain his place in attack after his double in the 4-0 win over the Republic of Ireland, was quick to slam any suggestions of a conspiracy.

"There's no reason to talk about a two-all draw with Croatia," Torres said.

"The mere talking of it is being disrespectful to Croatia and us.

"It means that they doubt us as professionals.

"Croatia needs to win, we need to win too, but at the end we can win, draw or lose.

"Nothing says that we are going to agree a certain score, we are going to play our way and try to win.

"To me, talking about this it's not football."

Spain coach Vicente del Bosque said he remains unfazed about his side's yellow cards when selecting his squad to face Croatia.

"The fact that some of my players have already a yellow card won't change my line up, as this is not a problem yet," del Bosque said.

"If we have a problem with the yellow cards we will solve it, but so far that's just a possibility and we have no problem with it."
