Secret Agent: Steven Gerrard Australia-bound?

MORE: Young star refuses Sydney FC contract after Premier League snub

I can exclusively report Steven Gerrard and a host of Liverpool legends could be on their way to Australia early next year.

An Australian promoter is ready to part with his hard-earned cash to lure the Reds stars Down Under for a tour that will include multiple exhibition matches.

But there has been trouble getting LA Galaxy star Gerrard to sign on the dotted line.

The official announcement of the tour is currently being held back by a hurdle in negotiations with Gerrard - whose contract is owned by the MLS.

The promoter wants the former Liverpool skipper to feature in a one-off match appearance but is encountering significant resistance from Gerrard's current club.

Bouzanis bitten by Spider

Western Sydney Wanderers goalkeeping coach Zeljko Kalac wants current reserve keeper Dean Bouzanis off the A-League club's books.

Kalac doesn't rate the eccentric Bouzanis - who was once on the books of Premier League giants Liverpool.

The 25-year-old has 18 months left on his deal at Wanderland and is not prepared to leave unless the entire contract is paid out.

Bouzanis' manager, who is also the player's father, has described Kalac's behaviour toward his son as discrimination.

The young goalkeeper was involved in another A-League controversy in 2011 when he claimed to have signed with Melbourne Victory - an announcement the club denied.

Another Mariner to be shown a red card

Midfielder Glen Trifiro is set to be the latest player to be shown the door in Gosford.

The 26-year-old, who joined the Mariners in 2014, is not rated by the club's coaching hierarchy - with a severance package likely to be offered imminently.

The decision to cut Trifiro confirms the ruthlessness of the Mariners management to instigate a new era at the club.

Experienced duo Liam Reddy and Eddy Bosnar have already been told they are not required as the Mariners rebuild clicks into gear.

Young Roar cub now a free agent

I reported last week that promising young midfielder George Lambadaridis would be leaving Brisbane Roar pending the signing of a foreign player.

We can now confirm after the arrival of Spanish midfielder Javier, Lambadaridis was told his services were no longer required.
