Blackburn Rovers have confirmed that caretaker manager Steve Kean will remain in charge at Ewood Park until the end of the season.

The decision was made after the 43-year-old held talks with the club's owners, Venky's, in India on Wednesday.

"Following the departure of Mr Sam Allardyce as football manager of Blackburn Rovers football club earlier this month, Mr Steve Kean was appointed as manager," a statement on Blackburn's official website read.

"Venky's London Limited - Blackburn Rovers - has decided to continue with Mr Steve Kean as manager, until the end of the season, June 2011."

Kean, who assumed caretaker duties after the shock sacking of Sam Allardyce last week, has enjoyed coaching stints at Fulham, Coventry and Spanish side Real Sociedad.

Reports indicate that he will be given a transfer purse of five million pounds for the January transfer window.

Blackburn, currently 12th in the Premier League standings, host Stoke City on Sunday.
