Robbie Kruse wins PFA top gong

Robbie Kruse

Kruse was rewarded by his peers for his sensational debut season in the Bundesliga, finishing ahead of Socceroos team-mate Mile Jedinak and Central Coast Mariners veteran Daniel McBreen to claim the prestigious award.

The 25-year-old, who secured a move to German powerhouse Bayer Leverkusen after starring for Fortuna Dusseldorf, is the youngest ever player to receive the accolade.

Kruse joins an illustrious list of players to be honoured with the award, with Tim Cahill (2009), recently retired Mark Schwarzer (2010), Matt McKay (2011) and Brett Holman (2012) all previous winners.

Meanwhile, New Zealand international Marco Rojas took out the PFA Harry Kewell Medal for his outstanding 2012/13 campaign with Melbourne Victory.

Awarded to the best-performing Under 23 footballer from the A-League and young Australian players based overseas, Rojas won the Harry Kewell Medal after scoring 15 goals last season as Victory reached the semi-finals of the A-League finals series.

The 22-year-old's form not only saw him win both the Johnny Warren Medal and A-League Young Footballer of the Year awards, but resulted in a transfer to Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart.

Sydney FC and Matildas star Sam Kerr was voted as the PFA Women's Footballer of the Year.

International team-mates Brianna Davey and Stephanie Catley finished joint-second.
