Real Valladolid defeated Levante 2-0 on Monday (local time) to continue their 100 percent start to La Liga, as Atletico Madrid thumped Athletic Bilbao.

Victor Perez scored from the penalty spot either side of half-time to earn the promoted side all three points at home.

The visitors saw David Navarro sent off in the 37th minute for a second bookable offence, the defender handling inside the area and gifting Valladolid their first spot-kick at Estadio Nuevo Jose Zorrilla.

Promoted via the second division playoffs last term, Valladolid find themselves joint top after two matches played in the 2012/13 Liga, level on six points with Barcelona and Rayo Vallecano.

Also on Monday, Atletico Madrid dispatched Athletic Bilbao 4-0 at home, with Colombia striker Radamel Falcao the star of the show.

Falcao, a big-money signing from Porto last year, netted a hat-trick within the first 60 minutes of the match at Estadio Vicente Calderon, his third goal coming from the penalty spot.

Portuguese midfielder Tiago Mendes bagged the fourth with seven minutes remaining.
