Rangers win Old Firm derby

Kenny Miller scored a brace as Glasgow Rangers came from behind to beat Old Firm rivals Celtic 3-1 in the Scottish Premier League on Sunday.

The victory kept Rangers' 100 percent record alive, with nine wins from as many matches this season as they attempt to win their third successive title.

The match started fiercely with Celtic's Anthony Stokes lucky not to be sent off for a dreadful tackle on Rangers' Sasa Papac.

Rangers responded with Steven Whittaker hitting the post but the tackles continued to fly in, with Lee McCulloch booked for the victors for a two-footed lunge on Emilio Izaguirre.

The first half was devoid of much goalmouth action, with play being regularly broken up by a series of tackles from both sides.

But it was hosts Celtic who grabbed the advantage on the stroke of half-time.

A Ki Sung-Yung corner was chested down by new signing Gary Hooper, who lashed the ball home from close range to delight the capacity crowd.

It set up the perfect finale to the match and would test Walter Smith's men, having also come from behind to win their last two matches.

Last year's SPL champions soon had their equaliser.

A free-kick from Steven Davis was terrifically headed by Kyle Lafferty and as the ball was on its way in, Celtic defender Glenn Loovens made a desperate attempt to clear it off the line but failed, only succeeding in putting the ball into his own net.

Eight minutes later and Rangers took the lead, thanks to a dreadful clearance from Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster.

Forster's mis-hit clearance fell straight to Steven Naismith only 25 yards from goal, and he found Maurice Edu with a sublime first-touch pass.

Edu flicked onto former Celtic striker Miller, who thumped in a low volley from 12 yards and ran towards the Rangers supporters.

The goal sparked wild scenes in the away end and 12 minutes later the Rangers fans were on their feet again when Miller scored his second.

It was from a highly controversial penalty, as Rangers defender Kirk Broadfoot appeared to dive under slight attention from Celtic's Daniel Majstorovic.

Referee William Collum pointed to the spot and Miller's penalty was top-notch, handing the visitors an unassailable lead.

Joe Ledley went close late on for Celtic but Smith's side recorded yet another victory and continued their impressive Old Firm derby record - they have won four of the last six.
