A brace from Kenny Miller helped Rangers continue their unbeaten start to the Scottish Premier League season with a 3-2 victory at Aberdeen.

Strikes to Scott Vernon and Christopher Maguire inside the first half-hour gave Aberdeen a two-goal buffer, but Miller pegged one back from the penalty spot on 34 minutes and found his second shortly after the break as the Scottish champions levelled.

Croatia international Nikica Jelavic's fairytale beginning to life in the SPL continued with a 67th-minute winner, giving Rangers their sixth straight victory and their first at Pittodrie in four years.

Maguire and Vernon combined to put Aberdeen ahead on 10 minutes, with Maguire playing a sublime through ball to Vernon, who timed his run onto the ball and coolly finished past Rangers keeper Allan McGregor.

Maguire then doubled the hosts' advantage on 30 minutes, beating McGregor with a low ball after a cross from the left by Darren Mackie.

But Rangers pegged one back from the penalty spot soon after, with Miller handed the responsibility after Jerel Ifil brought down Vladimir Weiss inside the box.

Miller then nabbed an equaliser for Rangers on 52 minutes after Steven Davis threaded a pass to the veteran striker for the easiest of finishes and his 10th goal of the season.

Jelavic put Rangers ahead after Aberdeen keeper Jamie Langfield's poor clearance picked out Lee McCulloch, who played a through ball to Steven Naismith.

Naismith beat the offside trap, charged into the area and unselfishly passed to Jelavic who tapped into the unguarded goal.

Rangers improve to top of the table following their sixth victory, with a slim lead on goals over the equally unbeaten Celtic.

Aberdeen drop to sixth with seven points, and also lost Maguire to his second caution on 87 minutes after a challenge on Naismith.
