Glasgow Rangers advanced to the third round of the Scottish League Cup with an easy 3-0 win over Falkirk on Thursday.

Lee McCulloch notched a brace, with Andrew Little also getting on the scoresheet in a first half which Rangers dominated at Ibrox.

Before the domination started it was the visitors who nearly took the lead, but David Weatherston could only smash his volley against the post.

McCulloch opened the scoring with a bullet header on 18 minutes as he climbed above the Falkirk defence to connect with a fine corner from Ian Back.

The first half was dominated by Ally McCoist's side, who soon doubled their lead.

Little bagged a well-taken goal in the 32nd minute, as he ran in behind the defence to latch on to a Dean Shiels through-ball.

Falkirk managed to get to half-time without conceding again but they were the makers of their own demise just seven minutes after the break.

A mix-up between goalkeeper and defender presented McCulloch the opportunity to grab his second of the game and seal a comfortable win for the club demoted from the Scottish Premier League to the Third Division.
