Rangers extended their lead over Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premier League to four points with a 2-0 win over lowly Aberdeen.

Kenny Miller opened the scoring for the hosts with a header on 21 minutes after Manchester City loanee Vladimir Weiss' neat cross, and provider turned goalscorer when Weiss made it 2-0 in the 32nd minute with a tidy finish inside the penalty box.

Celtic have a game in hand on their rivals, and can cut the gap back to a point if they beat St Mirren away from home on Sunday.

Inverness extended their astonishing run of undefeated away league matches to 17 with three second-half goals to see off Hamilton 3-1.

Dougie Imrie opened the scoring for Hamilton against his old club on 28 minutes with his second goal of the season before two defensive blunders within the space of seven minutes after half-time gifted Inverness the advantage.

Adam Rooney was the first to pounce after 49 minutes to make it 1-1, before Jonathan Hayes made it 2-1 within the space of three minutes with a close-range finish.

Hamilton's woes continued when Rooney added his second on 59 minutes with a fine header inside the area to maintain Inverness' position at fifth in the table.

Third-placed Motherwell stumbled on their travels at Hibernian, suffering a 2-1 loss after Derek Riordan's double trumped out Nick Blackman's earlier penalty.

Hearts moved into the top three courtesy of a 2-0 win at St Johnstone. Kevin Kyle's fierce penalty after 64 minutes was followed by Ryan Stevenson's late strike that secured all three points for the visitors.

Johnny Russell's strike from the edge of the area rescued a point for Dundee United just a minute after Conor Sammon had given Kilmarnock the lead. Russell's reply after 23 minutes was enough to earn a draw, the final score 1-1.
