Paris St Germain kept the pressure on Ligue 1 leaders Montpellier with a 2-1 win over arch-rivals Marseille in the French capital on Sunday.

Former Chelsea defender Alex headed home the winner in the second half, two minutes after Andre Ayew had cancelled out Jeremy Menez's early opener.

Mohamed Sissoko was sent off late for PSG, but the home side held on for their first win in four matches and are now level on 63 points with Montpellier, who have a game in hand.

The result leaves Marseille ninth on the Ligue 1 table ahead of a home game against Montpellier on Wednesday and the French League Cup final against Lyon three days later at the Stade de France.

In other matches, Caen moved further away from the relegation zone with a 1-0 win against Bordeaux.

Nicolas Seube's header after two minutes proved the difference as Caen notched up their first win in seven Ligue 1 games.

Ludovic Obraniak missed a penalty on 15 minutes for Bordeaux, who are now 11 points away from a European berth next season.

Nice also pulled further away from the drop zone with a 2-0 victory over Lorient.

Anthony Mounier and Renato Civelli struck in the second half for Nice, while Lorient had Alaixys Roma sent off with 12 minutes remaining.

The win was Nice's second in a row and moves them to 13th, while Lorient slipped from 14th to 18th.
