Pressure mounts at Blackburn

Blackburn manager Steve Kean says he can handle the mounting pressure after his side lost at home to West Brom on Saturday.

Rovers managed to equalise through Scott Dann after falling behind, but a late Peter Odemwingie strike gave the visitors the points in a 2-1 win.

Blackburn face Bolton on Tuesday, and anything less than a win will only increase calls for Kean to be sacked.

"I can understand their frustrations because they know how well we can play," Kean said.

"I look at the game and I look at the first half and I don't think we were as good as we normally are with the ball."

"So then a bit of frustration creeps in with the fans because they want to see our match winners on the ball more and I don't think we were doing that."

"So I can understand why they were edgy and obviously they weren't happy when the goal went in - albeit a wonder strike from the edge of the box."

"But, then I felt when we did equalise I felt there was a surge behind us, but when you get a goal against you in the 89th minute they are obviously not happy."

Blackburn have won just once in their last 11 league matches, but Kean remains optimistic of escaping relegation and winning back the fans.

"I always feel that we are just about to go an unbeaten run. We are going to win over the fans that are grumbling," he said.

"They are going to be overtaken by the noise of the positive fans. I never feel as though that you can't change anybody's mind."

West Brom boss Roy Hodgson was in a far better mood after watching his side win for the first time in four matches and move further away from the bottom three.

"It took two very good goals to win us the game. I think we can be more than satisfied with our day's work, I can comfortably say we deserved it on the basis of our possession and chances created," Hodgson said.

"I think the back four and midfield defended well, it's not a great secret how Blackburn play and what they try to do so we knew there would be lots of balls floated up to our penalty area."

"We needed to make sure we didn't get caught on the second ball and I thought we did that well, but on the one occasion you don't do it and its 1-1 and you're thinking 'Do we deserve this?'"

"I thought we got ourselves together, created chances and luckily for me Peter Odemwingie, who had a very good game, showed what a great player he is."
